SRINIVASAN TO BE NEW CHAIRMAN OF ICC
BCCI President N.Srinivasan
will be the new Chairman of the International
Cricket Council, ICC from July onwards for a period of two years. Full
test playing nations led by India, England and Australia would have a larger
share in revenues based on their contribution towards the finances and
merit.These are some of the landmark decisions taken at the ICC Board meeting
in Singapore today where the new model of Governance, finance and competition
was approved by voice vote. Pakistan and SriLanka abstained from the vote.
ICC President Alan Isaac said that the Board has made some significant
decisions which will ensure a better governance of world cricket in the years
to come.ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said the directions of the board
will be implemented.
Rise of India’s status as the world leader in Cricket has once again been
confirmed by the International Cricket Council. The BCCI President N.Srinivasan
will head the decision making body of world cricket for two years with a new
Executive committee and Finance and Commercial committee. A Test Cricket Fund
will finance the promotion of test cricket in all Test playing nations except
India, England and Australia.
All full 10 members now can get larger share of revenues base on how much they
contribute to generate finances and their performances in the three formats of
the game. All full members will enter into legally binding contracts to ensure
that matches are held and the Future Tours Program schedule is maintained till
2023.
The World Test Championship will be replaced with an ICC Champions Trophy in
2017 and 2021. Beisdes.the winner of the next ICC Intercontinental Cup will be
entitled to take part in a play-off against the bottom-ranked Full Member and,
if successful can obtain Test status. The stakes of Associate and Affiliate
members would also be protected .
