RAM MANJHI TAKES OATH AS CM OF BIHAR
Jitan Ram Manjhi
sworn-in as the new Chief Minister of Bihar
Tuesday evening.
Governor D.Y. Patil administered oath of
office and secrecy to the JD-U leader at a simple ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in
Patna.
Manjhi along with 17 Ministers took oath including two independent members.
Talking to newsmen after taking the oath, Jitan Ram Manjhi said that his
government will seek a vote of confidence on Friday.
15 members of the Nitish Kumar government have retained their place in the new
Jitan Ram Manjhi Ministry, while two independent MLA have also been inducted on
Tuesday.
The two new faces are Dular Chandra Goswami and Vinay Bihari.
The new chief minister is likely to distribute portfolios among his ministers
very soon.
The outgoing chief minister Nitish Kumar said that there is no threat to the
new government and they will work in coordination.
A native of Mahkar village in Gaya district, Manjhi is the third Dalit Bihar
chief minister after Bhola Paswan Shastri and Ram Sundar Das.
Jitan Ram Manjhi was SC/ST welfare minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet and he
is legislator from the Makhdoompur assembly constituency in Jehanabad district.
