BACHCHAN TO DELIVER THIS YEAR'S PENGUIN LECTURE

Bachchan will deliver this year's Penguin Lecture, which has featured some of
the world's most respected leaders, thinkers and writers over the years.
"It's a matter of great pride for us that this
year's lecture will be delivered on November 29 by Amitabh Bachchan - one of
the country's most loved and admired personalities, the leading figure in
India's entertainment industry, and a great ambassador for the country on the
global stage," says Hemali Sodhi, vice president (Marketing and Promotion)
of Penguin Books India.
"The Penguin Annual Lecture has always endeavored to be a platform for
bringing globally respected leaders and luminaries in their respective fields
in direct contact with audiences," she says.
The six previous Penguin Annual Lectures have been delivered by journalist and
writer Thomas Friedman in 2007, diplomat and writer Chris Patten in 2008, Nobel
Prize-winning economist Amartya Sen in 2009, historian Ramachandra Guha in
2010, Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama in 2011, and former President A P
J Abdul Kalam last year.
